Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Continues to Strengthen Primary Healthcare Access Across Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh

Srikakulam, 30 October 2026: Under the “Strengthening Healthcare Infra and Allied Activities” programme, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, through its CSR initiative, upgraded the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Ganguvada, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, and formally handed it over to the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Since September 2022, 27 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh, have been upgraded under the initiative, improving access to quality healthcare infrastructure. Implemented in partnership with Dr. Reddy’s Foundation and the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh, the programme has helped bring healthcare services closer to communities across the district. Patients can now access a wider range of services within their local PHCs, reducing the need for referrals to distant healthcare facilities and improving access to timely care.

The Ganguvada PHC, the 27th facility upgraded under the initiative, is located in Pathapatnam mandal, 68 km from the Srikakulam district headquarters. It caters to a population of 33,979 across 59 villages and 9,878 households. It is linked to nine Grama Sachivalayams and eight Ayushman Arogya Mandirs.

The upgrade included enhanced diagnostic and laboratory facilities, with new testing and blood-processing equipment, along with laboratory upgrades such as air-conditioning and refrigeration to support reliable testing and cold-chain management. Additional improvements included better storage and management of laboratory supplies and testing materials, information boards indicating available tests and turnaround times, continuous purified water supply, installation of a liquid waste management system, and aesthetic and civil infrastructure improvements, including landscaping and better sanitation facilities.

Beyond infrastructure and diagnostic upgrades, the initiative also focused on maternal and child healthcare services. This included an upgraded labour room aligned with applicable Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines, along with infection prevention and control measures. Pharmacy and inventory management services were standardised through the categorization of medicines as Vital, Essential and Desirable (VED), inventory controls to minimise medicine wastage, and colour-coded medication safety systems.

Healthcare personnel received training in maternal and neonatal care, including Skilled Birth Attendant (SBA) protocols, Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC), Active Management of the Third Stage of Labour (AMTSL), Essential Newborn Care (ENBC) and Basic Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (BEmONC). Staff also received training in emergency stabilization, referral management, and managing life-threatening conditions such as maternal and newborn emergencies, cardiac cases, trauma, poisoning and snake bites, enabling the PHC to deliver more comprehensive, timely and patient-friendly healthcare services.

The upgraded PHC was inaugurated and formally handed over to the Andhra Pradesh Health Department in the presence of Smt. Dr. N. Himasri, Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO), and Sri B. Linga Murthy, Health Extension Officer, along with representatives of Dr. Reddy's Foundation, healthcare staff, and community representatives.

"A significant number of people rely on public healthcare services every day. Through this initiative, our endeavour has been to strengthen public health facilities to deliver quality care closer to where people live. This initiative reflects what can be achieved when government and industry work together to improve public healthcare systems and the quality of care available to communities. We are grateful to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its support in making this possible," said Kumar Randhir Singh, Company Secretary, Compliance Officer and Head CSR, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd.

The Ganguvada PHC upgrade represents a successful public–private partnership between the Government of Andhra Pradesh and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, implemented through Dr. Reddy’s Foundation.
