Gandhinagar, Sep 9: Gujarat has approved Rs 1.50 crore to improve educational and residential facilities at 29 schools and hostels in the tribal-dominated Aravalli district, benefiting around 4,922 students. The initiative is aimed at making schools and hostels more comfortable, better equipped and supportive of students’ everyday needs.
The funding will be used to provide essential facilities such as bunk beds with mattresses, classroom benches, washing machines, rooftop solar systems and reverse osmosis units for drinking water. These improvements are expected to make a visible difference to students who live and study at residential institutions.
For many tribal students, a good learning environment depends not only on classrooms but also on the quality of accommodation, drinking water and basic facilities available in hostels. Better residential infrastructure can provide students with a more comfortable setting and allow them to concentrate on their studies.
The addition of classroom benches will improve basic learning facilities, while washing machines will make hostel management easier. RO systems will help provide treated drinking water, addressing an important day-to-day need for students.
The installation of rooftop solar systems also brings a sustainability element to the programme. Along with supporting cleaner energy use, solar power can help educational institutions move towards more efficient energy management.
The initiative is expected to strengthen the overall educational environment in the 29 institutions and provide students with facilities that support both learning and daily life.
