New Delhi, August 4: The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has achieved a significant milestone, facilitating 12.69 crore cashless hospital admissions worth Rs 1.92 lakh crore, underscoring the growing reach of India's flagship public health insurance programme.
The government said the scheme has played a crucial role in improving access to affordable healthcare by providing financial protection to millions of eligible families across the country.
Under the programme, beneficiaries receive cashless treatment for a wide range of secondary and tertiary care services at empanelled public and private hospitals, reducing the financial burden of medical emergencies.
Officials said the steady rise in hospital admissions reflects increasing awareness of the scheme and expanding access to quality healthcare, particularly for economically vulnerable households.
The government has continued to strengthen the programme by expanding the network of empanelled hospitals, improving digital health services and streamlining claim settlement processes to ensure timely and efficient healthcare delivery.
AB-PMJAY remains one of the world's largest publicly funded health assurance programmes, covering eligible families with health insurance benefits for hospitalisation and critical medical treatment.
