Sep 17: Nehlia Developers has introduced a menstrual leave policy for its eligible women employees, effective September 2026, reinforcing its focus on employee well-being and a more inclusive workplace culture. Under the policy, eligible employees will receive one paid menstrual leave per month, separate from existing sick, casual, and annual leave entitlements, subject to the company’s internal HR policy and employment terms.

The initiative reflects the company’s belief that employee well-being should go beyond conventional workplace benefits and acknowledge the real experiences of its people. By recognizing menstrual health as a genuine workplace well-being need, Nehlia Developers aims to ensure that women do not have to choose between their health and professional responsibilities.
Mr Ashok Nehlia, Founder & CEO, Nehlia Developers, said,
“At Nehlia Developers, we believe that taking care of our people is not an HR formality; it is a leadership responsibility. The introduction of menstrual leave is a small but meaningful step towards building a workplace where women can work, grow, lead, and succeed without feeling the need to hide a natural part of their lives. We are not giving women a privilege; we are acknowledging a reality.”
The policy has been designed around trust, dignity, and privacy. Employees will not be required to provide unnecessary medical documentation for routine availing of the benefit, while requests will be handled confidentially through the HR process. Where the nature of the role permits, the company will also support reasonable flexibility, including work-from-home or adjusted work arrangements, based on operational requirements.
Mr.Om Prakash Nehlia, Managing Director, Nehlia Developers, said,
“A workplace becomes truly supportive when its policies reflect the realities of the people who are part of it. Menstrual leave is about creating that space with understanding, dignity, and trust. As more women take on important roles across the real estate sector, it is equally important that organizations create an environment where they feel supported not just professionally, but as individuals.”
Nehlia Developers currently has 100 employees, approximately 70 of whom are women. Women contribute across functions, including marketing, sales, HR, operations, administration, communications, and leadership, with the company seeking to ensure their perspectives are part of organizational decision-making.
The initiative also reflects the changing role of women in the traditionally male-dominated real estate sector, where they are increasingly contributing across sales, marketing, architecture, finance, operations, and leadership. Nehlia Developers believes that supportive workplace policies can help create an environment where women can build and sustain careers without feeling compelled to compromise on their well-being.
The company also plans to encourage greater awareness and sensitivity around menstrual health through workplace conversations and sensitization initiatives. Going forward, it aims to explore further initiatives around women’s well-being, workplace flexibility, professional growth, leadership opportunities, and inclusion.
For Nehlia Developers, the larger goal is to build a workplace where talent, not gender, defines opportunity.
