Under the initiative, cattle farmers can request artificial insemination services at their doorstep by calling the toll-free helpline 155333. Following the request, a trained artificial insemination technician will visit the farmer’s home and provide the required breeding service.

The facility is now available across all 30 districts of Odisha, making it easier for farmers, particularly those in rural and remote areas, to access professional livestock breeding services without having to transport their animals to a veterinary facility.

The initiative is aimed at encouraging farmers to adopt improved breeding practices and gradually enhance the productivity of their cattle. Better access to artificial insemination can support the development of healthier and more productive livestock, potentially helping farmers improve milk production and household earnings.

The Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department has urged cattle farmers to make use of the service and adopt more scientific approaches to livestock management.

By bringing breeding services directly to farmers’ doorsteps, the programme is expected to reduce the difficulties associated with accessing veterinary and livestock services and encourage more farmers to adopt modern cattle-rearing practices.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen Odisha’s livestock sector by improving access to breeding technology and supporting farmers in making cattle rearing a more productive and sustainable source of income.
