New Delhi, Oct 01: Smiling Tree, an environmental initiative founded by Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, collaborated with Hindu College, University of Delhi, for the celebration of NSS Day 2026. The event featured guest panel discussions on community safety, self-defence workshops conducted in collaboration with Delhi Police, and youth empowerment sessions aimed at encouraging awareness, confidence and social responsibility among young people.

The programme brought together representatives from law enforcement, distinguished guests, students and community members to highlight the importance of personal safety, collective responsibility and youth participation in building safer communities. The sessions provided a platform to discuss community awareness and the role of young people in contributing to positive social change.
As part of the collaboration, Smiling Tree planters were presented to the guest dignitaries, including Additional DCP Shri Angad Mehta, Ms. Pallavi Faujdar, Sub-Inspector Kiran Sethi, popularly known as “Lady Singham” of Delhi Police, and Shri Shiv Kumar Kohli. Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Mukesh Kwatra, Founder of Smiling Tree, said,
“NSS Day is an important reminder that young people have the power to bring meaningful change to society. Our collaboration with Hindu College, University of Delhi, reflects the importance of combining social responsibility, community safety and environmental awareness. Through initiatives like these, we want to encourage students to become responsible citizens who care for their communities as well as the environment. Gifting planters to the distinguished guests is a small gesture that carries a larger message about nurturing nature and building a greener future together.”
The collaboration reflects the shared importance of community engagement and youth participation in addressing social and environmental priorities. By bringing together discussions on safety, practical self-defence training and empowerment sessions, the programme aimed to encourage students to become more aware, confident and proactive members of society.
For Smiling Tree, the initiative also reinforces its broader mission of encouraging environmental responsibility through meaningful partnerships with educational institutions, communities and organisations. The presentation of planters served as a reminder that small, consistent actions can contribute to a greener environment and inspire sustainable habits among future generations.
The NSS Day 2026 collaboration with Hindu College, University of Delhi, highlights the potential of partnerships between environmental organisations, educational institutions and public service representatives to promote a more informed, responsible and environmentally conscious society.
