Hindustan Group of Institutions Marks 10 Years of Mysuru Campus with Inauguration of Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Block
Chennai, Mar 12: The Hindustan Group of Institutions, one of India’s prominent education groups headquartered in Chennai, marked an important milestone in the growth of its Mysuru campus with the inauguration of the Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Block at Hindustan College, Mysuru. The occasion also coincided with the institution completing ten years of academic excellence and contribution to higher education in Karnataka.
Over the past decade, Hindustan College, Mysuru has steadily evolved into a recognised centre for higher education in the region, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including B.Com, BCA, BBA Aviation Management, and M.Com, designed to equip students with industry-relevant knowledge and professional skills.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of several distinguished dignitaries. Lokanath N. K., Vice Chancellor of University of Mysore, attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Gregorios Mar Stephanos Episcopa, Bishop of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The memorial block was formally inaugurated by Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of the Hindustan Group of Institutions.
Other dignitaries present included Dr. Ashok George Verghese, Vice President, Hindustan Group of Institutions; Dr. Annie Jacob, Trustee, Hindustan Educational and Charitable Trust; Enid Verghese Jacob, Deputy Director, Hindustan Group of Institutions; and Vivek Reddy, Resident Advisor, Hindustan Educational and Charitable Trust, along with faculty members, students, alumni, and invited guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anand Jacob Verghese, Chairman of the Hindustan Group of Institutions said,
“The inauguration of the Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Block is a tribute to the vision and legacy of our founder, Dr. K. C. G. Verghese, whose belief in the transformative power of education continues to guide us even today. As Hindustan College, Mysuru completes a decade of academic excellence, this new facility represents our commitment to strengthening academic infrastructure and creating an environment where students can learn, innovate, and grow.”
The Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Block has been developed to enhance the academic infrastructure of the Mysuru campus and includes technologically enabled classrooms, modern learning spaces, and upgraded facilities designed to support the institution’s expanding academic programmes.
As part of the celebrations, the college also hosted SPECTRA 2026 – Dr. K. C. G. Verghese Memorial Trophy, a national-level intercollegiate management, IT, aviation, and cultural festival. The two-day event featured 14 competitions and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing institutions across the country. Cash prizes and trophies were awarded across various categories, with the Overall Championship carrying a prize of ₹20,000 and the Runner-up Championship ₹10,000. The total prize pool across events exceeded ₹1,00,000.
Founded in 1966 by Dr. K. C. G. Verghese with the vision “To Make Every Man a Success and No Man a Failure,” the Hindustan Group of Institutions has played a significant role in advancing technical and professional education in India. Headquartered in Chennai, the group began its journey with the establishment of the Hindustan Engineering Training Centre in the early 1960s to address the growing need for technical skill development in the country. Over the decades, it has expanded into a network of reputed institutions offering programmes in engineering, aviation, applied sciences, and management.
