NMIMS Navi Mumbai Launches BBA in Tourism Management

Navi Mumbai, Apr 2: India’s tourism and hospitality sector is expected to contribute over $511.5 billion to the country’s GDP by 2034, according to a report by the World Travel & Tourism Council. The demand for skilled professionals is only set to rise.

In response to this growing industry demand, SVKM’s NMIMS Navi Mumbai has introduced the BBA in Tourism Management program under its School of Hospitality Management. Designed for students aspiring to build meaningful careers in the dynamic world of travel and tourism, the program goes beyond a traditional business curriculum. It focuses on preparing students for an industry increasingly driven by experiences, technology, and global connectivity. Early specialisation in travel technology, aviation, digital marketing, and artificial intelligence equips students with a strong blend of business acumen and domain expertise.

The NMIMS Navi Mumbai campus has designed the program to be deeply rooted in practical application and immersive learning. Students gain hands-on experience through live projects with travel companies and tourism boards, along with extensive field visits to destinations, airports, heritage sites, and luxury hotels. The curriculum is further strengthened through industry internships, training in reservation and booking systems, exposure to tourism analytics tools, and event-based project execution ensuring real-world readiness.

Speaking on the launch of the new program, Dr. Shefali Joshi, Dean of the School of Hospitality Management, NMIMS Navi Mumbai, said,

“We are delighted to launch our new BBA (Tourism Management) program, designed to prepare students for the rapidly evolving global tourism industry. This program will empower students with industry-relevant skills and a strong academic foundation to excel as future professionals.”

The program also encourages creativity and entrepreneurship. Students will have opportunities to design travel experiences, develop destination marketing strategies, and even conceptualise tourism start-ups—encouraging them to think beyond traditional career paths.

Open to students from all streams after Class 12, the course is ideal for those aspiring to work in airlines, travel companies, tour operations, event management, cruise tourism, and digital travel platforms.

By combining business education with emerging global travel trends, NMIMS Navi Mumbai aims to nurture a new generation of professionals ready to lead, innovate, and shape the future of tourism and hospitality.
