Mumbai, Feb 05: Mumbai witnessed a profound spiritual moment as the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra arrived in the city, carrying with it the legacy of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, along with sacred artefacts, archival treasures, and the timeless wisdom of Vedanta, as part of Chinmaya Mission’s 75-year celebrations under the banner of Chinmaya Amrit Mahotsav. The Yatra received and welcomed in Mumbai under the guidance of Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission and Pujya Swami Tejomayananda, former Global Head of the Mission, marking a significant milestone in the Mission’s year-long commemorative journey.

The Chinmaya Amrit Yatra is a 295-day national and international pilgrimage that commenced on December 31, 2025, from Chinmaya Vibhooti in Pune, and will culminate at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi on October 23, 2026. Covering approximately 35,000 kilometres, the Yatra will traverse key regions across India and will also extend its journey to Nepal and Sri Lanka, reinforcing the universal relevance of Vedantic wisdom across cultures and borders.
A central spiritual pillar of the Yatra is the Digital Yajna, comprising curated archival discourses of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, subtitled and voiced in regional languages, enabling seekers particularly youth and first-time audiences to engage meaningfully with the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and connect deeply with his timeless guidance.
Moreover, the Yatra features a specially designed travelling Vahini, offering an immersive introduction to the life and teachings of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. The Vahini houses sacred and deeply personal belongings of Gurudev, including his revered Padukas, vastra, and other cherished items that he personally used, alongside thoughtfully curated installations that bring his spiritual legacy alive. Together, these elements create a sanctified space for collective prayer, reflection, and learning at each destination. Accompanied by Paduka Pujas, interactive sessions, and community engagement initiatives, the Yatra reinforces Chinmaya Mission’s commitment to translating timeless spiritual wisdom into lived experience, with a special focus on inspiring clarity, purpose, and values-based living among the youth.
During its Mumbai leg, the Yatra unfolded as a vibrant spiritual procession, marked by a ceremonial convoy, collective prayers, bhajans, and seva activities. YuvaVeers (volunteers), young seekers from diverse backgrounds, accompanied the Yatra, many of whom have undertaken the sacred commitment of travelling with the Vahini across the country for the nearly 300-day journey. Embracing this challenge as an act of seva to Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda, the YuvaVeers embody the Mission’s emphasis on youth empowerment, discipline, unity, and selfless service, carrying the Yatra’s spirit and message forward at every step.
The Mumbai events were graced by Shridhar Narayan, CEO, Hiranandani; Jayant Patil, Trustee L&T Employee Trust; Ashok Wadhwa, Group CEO, Ambit Private Limited, Nitin Paranjpe, Chairman, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., who joined devotees and volunteers in witnessing the Yatra’s message of spiritual unity and renewal.
The Yatra is being conducted under the blessings and leadership of Swami Anukoolananda. Addressing at the Mumbai yatra, he said:
“A central intention of the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra is to reach the youth of the country and engage them in a meaningful dialogue with the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. Guided by the framework of Gita Panchamrit, the Yatra presents timeless teachings in a form that is experiential, relevant, and rooted in daily living. As it journeys across regions and cultures, it seeks to nurture clarity of thought, strength of character, and a deep sense of purpose, allowing wisdom to naturally express itself through responsible action.”
Reflecting on the significance of the Yatra, Pujya Swami Swaroopananda said:
“The Chinmaya Amrit Yatra reflects Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda’s vision of taking spiritual wisdom beyond institutions and into the lives of people. This journey across the country is not merely a physical movement, but a collective awakening of inner awareness, purpose, and values. As the Yatra passes through cities and communities, it reaffirms that the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita continue to guide modern life with balance, strength, and compassion.”
As Chinmaya Mission commemorates 75 years since its founding, the Chinmaya Amrit Yatra stands as a collective expression of gratitude, continuity, and renewal. What unfolds as a journey across geography becomes a shared spiritual movement, carried forward through local voices, local languages, and local participation.
The Chinmaya Amrit Yatra will culminate in a three-day national gathering at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from October 23 to October 25, 2026, bringing together participants from across India and overseas to mark the conclusion of this landmark spiritual journey.
