The talks, being held in Islamabad with Pakistan playing a mediatory role, are aimed at transforming the fragile ceasefire into a long-term peace agreement. However, significant differences remain between the two sides, raising uncertainty over the outcome of the negotiations.

Ahead of the discussions, Vance cautioned that the United States expects Iran to engage in good faith, warning against any attempt to derail the process.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning, stating that the United States is prepared to resume military action against Iran with even greater intensity if a peace agreement is not reached. Reports indicate that military preparedness is being strengthened as a contingency measure in case talks fail.

The negotiations are seen as a critical moment in resolving the conflict, with key issues including security concerns, regional stability, and economic sanctions expected to dominate discussions.

Officials have expressed cautious optimism, but acknowledged that the path to a lasting resolution remains complex and challenging.
